Girard-Perregaux Hawk collection
Girard-Perregaux Hawk collection
They show the determination that any new challenge demands. Daring, pure-bred, uncompromising, they are the watches in the new sport collection by Girard-Perregaux: Hawk. They exude energy in an uncompromisingly avant-garde design forged by a manufacturing expertise that dates back to 1791. Two models: one a chronograph, the other for diving – launch a new line that boldly takes its place in the heritage of the brand.
Hawk: the very word connotes animal elegance, cunning, wisdom – and power. Much like the watches that carry the name, Sea Hawk and Chrono Hawk, it makes an unmistakable statement and confirms the position of Girard-Perregaux in the highly competitive world of top-level sports watches. It is also a reminder of the brand’s experience in this field: in 1880 it began the first volume production of military wristwatches, and in the 1940s it launched the first generation of Sea Hawk.
The new Hawk collection has inherited all this expertise and has adopted the brand’s identity codes to position itself clearly in the 21
st century. The tone is set by the imposing 44 mm diameter case in stainless steel. Athletic and vibrant, it embraces time with its bold angles, recalling the octagonal Laureato model. The fine edges of the case band, which present a special manufacturing challenge, hold the bezel in a firm grip.
The watchstraps, whether in leather or high-tech rubber, are perfectly integrated into the case and are fitted with a new security buckle. The assertive personality of the watch is further confirmed by the dials: their clear, luminescent markers, indications in relief, and the decor inspired by the famous Girard-Perregaux Bridge create a three-dimensional effect in a striking exercise in perspective.
While these watches have been specially created to operate in the most demanding situations, the spirit of Girard-Perregaux has remained unchanged. Its meticulous style, combining centuries of manufacturing tradition with a permanent commitment to innovation, is apparent in every detail of the design and manufacture of these watches. At their heart is a mechanical movement that, of course, has been entirely developed and produced in-house.
The
Chrono Hawk leaves nothing to chance. This includes the design of its case that combines sharp edges and a round bezel, its dial that emphasizes the measurement of short times, and its exceptional movement finished to the rigorous standards of Fine Watchmaking.
Its daring contemporary style plays with opposites: certain black elements underline the architectural nature of the watch, from the flange to the octagonal rubber ring that holds the satin-finish steel bezel. The crown and the push buttons impose an assertive character while the rubber-lined strap in leather, reveals a design that is meticulous in every detail.
The perfectly balanced, light colored dial focuses on the timing information. The two chronograph counters face each other at 3 and 9 o’clock in perfect symmetry. The date at 6 o’clock, the applied markers, and the hour and minute hands are all luminescent. This classic arrangement is further enhanced by a motif, inspired by the famous Girard-Perregaux Bridge that covers the surface of the dial.
The mechanical, automatic-winding movement, calibre GP3300 that can be seen through the sapphire case-back, confirms this as a watch with very high performance
