True to the technical and aesthetic spirit of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Duomètre range, the Duomètre Unique Travel Time watch reveals the diverse facets of watchmaking excellence at the Manufacture in the Vallée de Joux. It is set to become an undisputed piece, proudly displaying both the mechanical watchmaking and intrinsic elegance that have characterised all Jaeger-LeCoultre creations since 1833. The past, present and future all come together in perfect harmony in this exceptional creation.
For this new movement, the Dual-Wing is divided into two mechanisms: the first is dedicated to local time and the second displays an additional time zone. Each mechanism has 50 hours of power reserve, and, in the search for absolute ease of use, the same crown can be used to wind both barrels. The day and night indicator and hour disc are positioned at 6 o’clock for easy reading and two magnificent counters are arranged symmetrically, giving this watch a perfect balance. On the dial, the numbers 7 and 9 are specially applied in red pay tribute to the Jaeger-LeCoultre Boutique.
For a remarkable finish, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 383 is revealed through the sapphire crystal of the timepiece. Its bridges and gear train are proudly hand-chamfered and feature polished troughs. The wheels, also hand-chamfered or adorned with polished troughs, are snailed or softened. This decoration draws its inspiration from the great tradition of the brand’s pocket watches while setting new standards with its unique finishing. The back also bears the engraved names of cities corresponding to 24 time zones.
The Duomètre Unique Travel Time watch in 18K white gold is a limited edition of 100 copies, and was specially created for the opening of the Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique in Paris’ Place Vendôme, where it will be available starting on 20 November 2012. A worthy successor to the Duomètre range, it celebrates the exquisite technical finesse and aesthetics of Haute Horlogerie. It both celebrates 180 years of history and heralds the future of watchmaking.
