Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute Relief Dragon
Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute Relief Dragon
Celebrating one of the most venerable of all Asian legends, Jaquet Droz has endowed the Petite Heure Minute Relief Dragon with sumptuous materials, realistic decorative motifs, great powers of evocation and virtuoso technical features. The same company that, back in the 18
th century, first introduced China to Swiss clockmaking, Jaquet Droz has chosen to start the Year of the Dragon in style with the motif of the dragon, that legendary creature whose magic pearl symbolizes the power and wisdom of the Emperor.
Delicately engraved in gold and mounted on the dial, the Dragon is depicted performing an aquatic maneuver with great majesty. He seems to be surfacing from an ocean of black mother-of-pearl, sculpted to bring out the vital energy of each wave. Meticulous craftsmanship is required to carve this fragile material, an art in which Jaquet Droz is an acclaimed specialist. One more detail makes a reference to the fabulous animal: a dragon tail is engraved on the oscillating weight, made of black onyx and visible through the back of the case. The mythical beast seems to be going right through the watch!
The case has been selected with particular care. The gleam of red gold highlights each detail appearing in relief on the dial as well as the sophisticated interplay of volumes, materials and luminous reflections that bring this amazing tableau alive, embellished by a crystal whose thickness was the object of special study. This tableau, infused with a rare intensity, is reserved for a select few: this spectacular model will be issued in a limited edition of only 88 pieces.
