Kalpagraph Collection

passion is borne out of Adventure
La Cote des Montres - April 14th, 2007

A time for adventure:

Led by its passion for discovery and always wanting to measure its manufacturing know-how against the more challenging demands of precision, Parmigiani Fleurier will today unveil the latest product of its development – the chronograph.

Inspired by its vast experience in hot-air ballooning, the Kalpagraph collection stands out by its sporting nature and captivates by its distinguished appearance.

Therefore, the chronograph acts as the mediator for its ideal of pursuing adventure.

Power

Without compromise – the elegance of a gesture reveals its Power

The Kalpagraph collection is an expression of power. Essentially of the Kalpa form, the power of its style can be seen in the streamlined body of the case. Two push buttons are incorporated, perfectly streamlined in a precious gold or palladium version.

Their roundness is particularly marked in the steel version of the Kalpagraph, which plays on the extravagance of the size of the on-off button.

The dynamic power of its lines reveals an innovative yet simple dial with its slate, black or silver shades, displaying its originality by highlighting the colour of the chronograph hands.

Resistance

Withstanding the test of time – proof of its Resistance

As the first sporting collection of Parmigiani Fleurier, the Kalpagraph is destined for adventure. Made of steel or precious metal, its perfect ergonomic properties provide the ultimate comfort whilst the body braves its challenges.

Because the Kalpagraph lines follow an outline elliptically expressed as the Gold Number, the ideal proportions game comes to the fore, allowing mimicry of the Kalpagraph curves by those of the wrist.

Water-resistant, its resistance to external elements is meticulously tested. Its leather or rubber strap provides the watch with ideal flexibility.

Skill

Towards perfection – gestures mastered by Skill

As a result of the authenticity of their manufacture, as reflected in its complete production autonomy, Parmigiani Fleurier timepieces are provided with the value of long lasting quality.

Produced in Parmigiani Fleurier workshops, from its movement to its exterior, the Kalpagraph model follows this requirement of its independence.

Created by more than one hundred production steps, the Kalpagraph is formed in the hands of expert craftsmen at the forefront of luxury horology.

Precision

The first chronograph movement manufactured by Parmigiani Fleurier (Calibre PF 334). It foreshadows the new, more accessible and sporty path the brand has chosen to follow.

The automatic winding mechanism, running for 55 hours, provides extreme convenience of use.

The care given to its components, which are hand finished in a traditional way, allows you to reflect on the very essence of luxury horology in a watch that is, with no doubt, contemporary.

Elegance

Palladium, the fascinating secrets of its Elegance

Even back in 2005, Parmigiani Fleurier created the event by launching, for the first time in the world, a watch made from palladium 950. A material that is just as precious as platinum and even purer than gold (its title being greater than that of 750 gold) palladium has, for a long time, been a horological enigma, because of its composition, in the pure state, which made it impossible to work.

Le Palladium

Fascinated by the beauty of its reflections and thanks to the expertise of Johnson Matthey, Parmigiani Fleurier discovered the perfect alloy to launch its first palladium collection, that proved remarkable for its hardness, ideal for its malleability and incomparable for its brilliance.

Nobility

Often pioneers in marketing new alloys, Parmigiani Fleurier manufacture developed the necessary skills and tooling for its creation.

The Kalpagraph model, made from palladium 950, for its part, is the ambassador of its nobility. Palladium has all the qualities of a top class metal, with its properties of being exceptionally lightweight, hypoallergenic and non-corroding in air. Of course, being very white, there is no need for any rhodium plating to perfect its beauty.
