Reopening of the CHANEL boutique at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann

Reopening
of the CHANEL boutique

at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann
La Cote des Montres - March 18th, 2024

On 13th February 2024, CHANEL opened the doors of its new boutique in Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann. At the heart of this emblematic Parisian department store, the House is strengthening the presence of its Fashion collections, which will be showcased alongside the Watches & Jewellery collections in an area of more than 420 m² reaching over two floors, designed by the architect and close collaborator of the House, Peter Marino.

On the ground floor, a majestic 80-metre-long façade enhanced with the letters of “CHANEL”, is an invitation to enter the boutique. Three separate areas are devoted entirely to accessories: bags, small leather goods, costume jewellery, textile accessories and sunglasses. An exclusive selection of timepieces - including the iconic J12, Première and BOY.FRIEND - and the COCO CRUSH, Camélia,

Comète and N°5 jewellery collections are also presented in a dedicated area. An interconnecting staircase carved from Thassos marble leads to the first floor, which is devoted entirely to Fashion - also accessible via another entrance in lava stone inlaid with the letters “CHANEL”.

The Ready-to-Wear collections by Virginie Viard are displayed in two new, dedicated salons, along with the leather goods. Towards the back of the boutique, a Louis XV-style fireplace is embellished with rock crystals reminiscent of those collected by Gabrielle Chanel in her apartment at 31 rue Cambon.

Within each space, carpets in shades of black and beige with touches of gold, as well as sofas and stool chairs in tweed - designed especially for the boutique - complete the discreet luxury of the boutique.

Works of art feature throughout: on the ground floor, abstract black and white door panels by Robert Greene catch the eye while a work by Peter Dayton decorates the private salon dedicated to Watches and Jewellery. The fitting rooms on the first floor welcome photographs by Alastair Gordon.

Finally, on the ground and first floors of the department store, Perfumes and Beauty are expressed in three reinvented spaces, with an exclusive range of curated products and made-to-measure services.

With this reopening, CHANEL further strengthens its presence at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann, allowing the House to offer each client an exceptional and personalised service.

To celebrate the reopening of its boutique at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann, CHANEL is unveiling an exclusive, ephemeral installation from 1st to 30th March, inspired by the Spring-Summer 2024 Ready-to-Wear collection by Virginie Viard, pre-launched in the department store and in the two emblematic CHANEL boutiques on rue Cambon.

Both the collection and the advertising campaign - photographed by Inez & Vinoodh - draw inspiration from the Villa Noailles, a 1923 modernist residence designed by the architect Robert Mallet-Stevens up in the heights of Hyères for art patrons Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles. In every window display of the department store along the Boulevard Haussmann, the collection’s silhouettes and accessories stand against trompe-l’œil backdrops inspired by the pink living room of the villa and its garden, surrounded by walls with rectangular windows overlooking the town of Hyères.

Other installations at the main entrances - the Mogador and Lafayette doors - and on the store’s first and fourth floor also echo it.

An occasion for CHANEL to reaffirm the House’s historical links with Galeries Lafayette.
