on their double Formula 1 World Championship wins
La Cote des Montres - November 23rd, 2022

One season, two outstanding results: the Oracle Red Bull Racing Team takes home the Formula 1 Constructors’ World Championship, and their driver - Max Verstappen - wins the Formula 1 Drivers’ World Championship for a second year in a row.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – 20 November 2022: Max Verstappen has won the 2022 Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship with an impressive lead, totaling 454 points this season. The Dutch driver secured the second title of his career achieving a record 15 wins throughout a gripping season, ahead of Charles Leclerc and teammate Sergio Perez and breaking the previous record held by Michael Schumacher (2004) and Sebastian Vettel (2013) of 13 wins in a season.

Verstappen even managed to confirm his title with four races left in the season, a feat only achieved by Nigel Mansell, Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel who were also crowed with four or more races left in a season.

With 15 wins, two sprint race victories and 7 pole positions this year, Max Verstappen has once again demonstrated exceptional skill and true grit as a driver. TAG Heuer, partner of the Oracle Red Bull Racing team since 2016, extends its heartfelt congratulations to Max and the entire team on their inspiring win.

2022 was also the team’s most successful season in terms of race wins with 17 (previous record was 13 in 2013). Oracle Red Bull Racing also broke its all-time constructor’s championship points total with 759 points (previous record was 650 in 2011) and has upheld an impressive streak of podiums, with a driver in the top three in every race since the Saudi Arabian GP. They take home their fifth world title, adding to the four consecutive championships the team won between 2011 and 2014.

“As a proud and longstanding partner of Oracle Red Bull Racing, TAG Heuer would like to congratulate Max Verstappen and the entire team on their extraordinary achievements this season. To win a World Championship is already an incredible feat, but a second consecutive victory is even more impressive. Max demonstrated outstanding talent and sportsmanship and more than ever embodies our Don’t Crack Under Pressure mindset on and off the track” says Frédéric Arnault, CEO of TAG Heuer. “And we are just as impressed with the teams’ Constructor’s title, a well-deserved recognition of their excellence and steadfast dedication, as well as Sergio Perez’ third place of course, after a break-out 2022 season. We couldn’t be happier with such exceptional results all around.”

For the final race of the year in Abu Dhabi, the once-again World Champion Max Verstappen sported his TAG Heuer Monaco Special Edition presented to him at the Monaco Grand Prix this spring, an iconic square-shaped timepiece infused with racing character, in a bold black titanium and pink gold rendition evocative of the 1970s golden era.

Sergio Perez also wore his favorite TAG Heuer timepiece, a limited-edition TAG Heuer Carrera chronograph designed especially for him and featuring his signature number 11 and moto.

As the Oracle Red Bull Racing team celebrates a truly incredible year, TAG Heuer wishes them much continued success in the off-season and looks forward to another thrilling year together in 2023.
