A new look for the Breitling Jet Team
A new look for the Breitling Jet Team
Simon “Windrider” Ammann, quadruple Olympic ski-jumping champion and new patron of the Breitling Jet Team
The Breitling Jet Team is a unique aerobatics team composed of seven extremely fast and powerful L-39 Albatros twin-seater military training jets. Its pilots are all extremely experienced professionals, most of them from the French air force, or from the Patrouille de France. It performs stunning aerial ballets at speeds of almost 700 km/h, with the planes sometimes flying within less than 3 meters of each other.
In 2010, Breitling has chosen to revamp this exceptional flight team that it has been partnering since 2003. The Breitling Jet Team aircraft are sporting new colors and a new design that perfectly reflects their spectacular feats – while also improving the visibility of the breath-taking figures they perform.
Anthracite grey for the fuselage, black for the wings and ailerons, and metal grey for the area surrounding the cockpit combine to compose an original and daring look. Large numbers signal the number and position of each plane when flying in formation and appear in an extremely original way, tightly framed and cropped to follow the shape of the wings and the ailerons. Bright touches of Breitling’s trademark yellow color appear on the wingtips. Another spectacular detail stems from the dark shade of their fuselage, which creates a vivid contrast with the metal grey of the underside of the wings and sometimes makes the jets look almost like missiles when viewed from the ground.
The team logo has been redesigned in the same vigorously modern style. The pilots and their technicians are also kitted out in new black flying suits to match those of the planes.
Moreover, the “new look” Breitling Jet Team also has a new patron in the person of famous Swiss athlete Simon Ammann, quadruple Olympic ski-jumping champion and passionately interested in the many different ways of conquering the skies.
Flying under its new colors, the Breitling Jet Team will present another rich program of demonstrations this year, including appearances at various major public events and air shows in Switzerland, France, Sweden, Hungary, Spain, Italy and Portugal.
