This past weekend, the Wales Rally GB offered a spectacular demonstration of the French driver’s mastery, racing in the livery of the privately-owned M-Sport team. With supreme brilliance, Sébastien Ogier claimed his 5th consecutive title of the WRC championship alongside his faithful co-driver Julien Ingrassia.Richard Mille is thrilled to celebrate the achievements of this virtuoso driver, who overcame an undeniably challenging season marked by a sudden change of team and tight rankings throughout the championship. All these difficulties, however, merely motivated his capacity for strategic thinking and ability to make the most of every situation. Sébastien not only proved his technical prowess, he performed with the regularity of a metronome in every rally, with 9 podium finished for 12 starts. He was nothing short of unstoppable!
“This year was complicated, but to achieve this result is simply unbelievable,” said the driver, in tears.
“We worked really hard. It’s never easy to win a title, but this year was clearly much tighter than the last. I’m grateful to everyone at M-Sport. This may be the most emotional experience of my rally career. I find my sport as exhilarating as ever, and I’m extremely proud to be five times world champion.”Now the second most decorated driver in the history of the WRC, Ogier is the first driver from a private team (M-Sport) to claim the title.
Sébastien Loeb, nine times world champion and also a Richard Mille partner, expressed his delight, saying:
“He deserves this title. Right now, he’s the one who best negotiated his championship. He was able to change teams and accept that he couldn’t always win, while continuing to rack up points in the championship.”Members of the Richard Mille family of sportsmen and women continue to turn in spectacular performances in their competitive specialities. Ever in search of new talent, the Richard Mille team looks forward to welcoming new, equally talented partners in the future.
