TAG Heuer’s iconic Carrera collection goes carbon
Avant-garde watchmaking meets innovative material: TAG Heuer introduces three new Carrera timepieces all crafted in carbon. These three limited-edition models – each with their own daring personality – are available as of now.
La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland – 27 November 2018: The TAG Heuer Carrera line has long been admired – not only for its reputation and ties to the world of motor racing, but also for the state-of-the-art timepieces that comprise this legendary collection. TAG Heuer now presents three new models – one of which is fitted with a tourbillon mechanism – and all three are made from carbon, a rare, lightweight material.
TAG Heuer Carrera Carbon Tourbillon Phantom
Fitted with an in-house Calibre Heuer 02T movement, this 45 mm tourbillon gets its name – Phantom – from the deep black colour of the mechanical components at its heart. The Calibre Heuer 02T has been certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC), meaning that the timepiece has passed rigorous testing conducted by the Swiss institute responsible for certifying the precision of mechanical watches.
Black gold-plated and black PVD-covered parts in addition to the black opaline dial give this timepiece a dark and daring appearance that suits every style. The titanium case is coated in black PVD and the fixed bezel is made of carbon, as are the lugs. A visually darker version of the manufacture movement that enhances the overall “Phantom” look of the timepiece can be seen through the transparent sapphire caseback. Presented on a matt black leather strap with a rubber inner lining, the TAG Heuer Carrera Carbon Heuer 02T Phantom is limited to only 500 pieces, and the limited-edition number is engraved on the caseback of each timepiece. This impressive model is available in selected stores worldwide.
TAG Heuer Carrera Carbon in rose gold or blue rhodium
Designed with speed demons and daring drivers in mind, the latest two chronographs to join the Carrera collection both feature a TAG Heuer in-house movement – the Calibre Heuer 02. This renowned mechanical movement has been designed with a power reserve of over 80 hours. One of the models features the alluring combination of rose gold and carbon.
The black dial is embellished with rose-gold-plated indexes and hands, and the lugs are crafted in 18K rose gold. Its counterpart features elegant touches of blue on the lacquered subdial and central second hand, on the indexes and on the small second counter at 6 o’clock. The carbon lugs perfectly complement the carbon bezel. The luxurious and contemporary timepieces both feature a perforated black rubber strap and are available as a limited edition of 350 and 750 pieces, respectively. The Calibre Heuer 02 movement can be admired through the transparent sapphire caseback. Modern, accurate and reliable, the mechanical movement features a column wheel and a vertical clutch – signature haute horlogerie features. The new carbon models are available exclusively in TAG Heuer boutiques and on
