Hublot Classic Fusion Tourbillon Berluti Scritto
5 December 2017 – Yesterday in Paris, at Place Vendôme, Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, and Antoine Pin, Executive Vice-President of Berluti, opened a new chapter in the partnership that links the two Houses of the LVMH Group as they launched two exclusive timepieces.
Hublot and Berluti, Berluti and Hublot: the union between these two big names in watchmaking and shoemaking is patently obvious. Founded in Paris in 1895 and developed by four generations of bootmaking craftsmen, Berluti makes shoes for men who swear by its emblematic Venezia leather — whose patina is the result of constant research — and will wear nothing else. Perfecting the panoply of the modern man, relying on age-old Swiss watchmaking tradition, Hublot has been pursuing its quest for continuous innovation for over thirty years by inventing iconic designs, investing in the search for new materials and beating mechanical records.
Honouring tradition and ancestral savoir-faire while constructing a future nourished by visionary ideas is the desire that unites the two House — and is the definition of “The Art of Fusion” concept created in 2004 by Jean-Claude Biver, Chairman of Hublot, and Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot.
“The Art of Fusion is a founding commitment of Hublot’s DNA. It is a state of mind that guides all of our actions and our partnerships. With our partners, and in particular with the House of Berluti, we are all part of the same dynamic, united by a shared DNA: excellence, distinction and innovation.”
Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot
In Place Vendôme, emblematic site of Parisian watchmaking and home to the Hublot Boutique for 6 years now, 180 special guests gathered. They included Alexander Levy, French golf champion and Friend of the Hublot brand, Julien Benneteau, French tennis player recently winner of the Davis Cup, Rabih Kayrouz, renowned Lebanese stylist and couturier, and Yannick Alléno, internationally recognised French chef—who holds three Michelin stars both at the Pavillon Ledoyen in Paris and at the 1947 restaurant at the Hôtel Cheval Blanc Courchevel – LVMH Hotel Management.
At Hôtel d’Evreux, a residence shaped by centuries of history and the quintessence of the French Arts, the guests discovered a succession of refined salons whose windows unveiled spectacular views over the illuminated Place Vendôme and its famous column. They began a journey through time via the savoir-faire of the two Houses: the Art of Fusion of innovative materials and watchmaking skills for Hublot and the Art of Patina that gives Berluti’s shoes their inimitable colour.
To the sound of a captivating musical theme, the real common thread running through the evening, the guests made their way into the majestic Salle des Tirages in the Hôtel d’Evreux. In this setting endowed with an elegant glass ceiling, and beneath the tall windows decorated with friezes, a futuristic décor, with shades of black heightening the site’s grandeur, was unveiled. Welcomed by their Master of Ceremony for the evening, Ariel Wizman, French journalist and actor, the guests took their seats. Tasting refined dishes, enchanted by a magic trick in honour of the Art of Fusion performed by the French illusionist Fred Razon, everyone was waiting for the climax of this evening, the presentation of the two new Hublot and Berluti timepieces.
The Classic Fusion Tourbillon Berluti Scritto King Gold and the Classic Fusion Tourbillon Scritto All Black were finally revealed in perfect levitation, via several giant holograms and a transparent screen.
These two limited series of 20 pieces have a 45-mm diameter case. Their dial in leather marked with the famous Scritto motif bears Berluti’s signature and an aperture at 6 o’clock reveals the magic of a tourbillon that was entirely developed and produced in-house by the engineers and watchmakers of the Hublot Manufacture. Accompanied by a hand-made strap, these two timepieces are delivered in a Bespoke Berluti case containing a complete set of Berluti polish.
“This evening in Paris, I am proud to celebrate the launch of two new timepieces in partnership with Hublot. By combining our savoir-faire and creativity, we have once again achieved our goal: the Classic Fusion Tourbillon Berluti is a model of fusion between the fine shoemaking of Berluti and the fine watchmaking of Hublot.”
