Time-keeping in the ocean depths
La Cote des Montres - June 8th, 2012

Water is their element, and the oceans their playground. For those adventurers who love to commune with nature in the silence of the deep, JeanRichard presents its new Aquascope Collection. These mechanical self-winding watches come with black, white, silver or night blue dials and a range of brightly-coloured natural rubber straps.

For divers, self-discipline is a pre-requisite and a good timepiece is essential. Taking its inspiration from a legendary JeanRichard model with a profile that makes it instantly recognisable, the new Aquascope watch has a rounded glass-opening within its barrel-shaped curves. The one-piece case provides protection for the two symmetrical crowns, and distinctive facets have been added on each side to ensure maximum functionality and exceptional comfort for the wearer. The polished and satin-finished steel case features a bi-directional rotating bezel designed to display the remaining diving time, a vital indicator for this sport.

Reliability is the byword of the Aquascope Collection, and the watches undergo the most exacting tests in the JeanRichard laboratories, ensuring that this is a model that can be counted on at 300 metres below the surface. An essential feature is the luminescent graduation of the Arabic numerals, and the dial’s hour-markers make for perfect legibility even in underwater zones with very little natural light.

The generously-proportioned Manufacture case (44.5 x 40 mm) is made of a variety of steel that combines lightness and excellent resistance to corrosion with the capacity to provide solid protection for the self-winding mechanical movement.

The Aquascope watch is the reflection of a state of mind. It bears witness to a liberty of spirit that allows wearers to immerse themselves in an untouched universe where man is a visitor, rather than a conquering intruder. Here they can apply their strength of character to take on new challenges and test their own limits, demonstrating their rugged individuality by their love of silent, leisurely underwater expeditions that are as far removed as can be imagined from the hurried pressures of everyday life.

For these passionate practitioners, the dial of the Aquascope watch comes in a sunburst-effect satin-finished night blue or black version, or with a opalin silvered surface. This makes a vivid contrast with the natural rubber strap, which asserts its presence in black, night blue, red, green, orange or white. The Aquascope watch is also available in a ladies’ model with a white mother-of-pearl dial, brilliant-cut diamond hour-markers and a white, grey or pink strap – guaranteed to induce a very glamorous version of post-dive light-headedness!
