in touch with its iconic Moon legacy, on every day, in every hemisphere on Earth
La Cote des Montres - January 14th, 2025

Since landing on the Moon in 1969, the Omega Speedmaster has become eternally connected to the wonders of the night sky. Now, the collection is celebrating that authentic affinity with the release of the new Speedmaster Moonphase Meteorite.

This 43 mm collection presents two different choices in stainless steel. Each watch harnesses two forms of meteorite and is powered by an innovative Omega calibre, designed to display lunar cycles as seen from both the northern and southern hemispheres.

The magic begins on the face of each timepiece, with a dial that is formed of iron meteorite. This ancient space material reveals a pattern of ribbon-like flecks that is unique in every watch. Omega has then gone one step further by colouring the iron meteorite with either a black PVD or galvanic grey coating.

From there, the Speedmaster Moonphase Meteorite takes a truly captivating direction, revealing a display that has never been seen on a Speedmaster before. At 6 o’clock, the Moonphase indication shows two cabochon Moons, which have been crafted from genuine pieces of Moon meteorite. As they turn, they reveal the changing illuminations seen in the northern and southern hemispheres, and even more incredibly, the stars in the background are positioned exactly as they were on the night that Apollo 11 reached the Moon in 1969 - as seen from Omega’s watchmaking home in Bienne, Switzerland.

The 3 o’clock subdial offers a 60-minute and 12-hour recorder, while at 9 o’clock, there is a Small Seconds subdial with a date display featuring a red anodized aluminium hand.

To drive all of these impressive functions, OMEGA has built the brand new manual-winding Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9914. The movement, including its special finish, is visible through the flat sapphire crystal on the caseback. It is anti-magnetic to 15,000 gauss and guarantees Omega’s finest standard of precision and chronometric performance, as determined by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).

In finer detail, each model’s unique features include:
  • A black PVD coated meteorite dial on black PVD coated base, with 18K white gold hands and hour markers, and a black ceramic bezel with white enamel tachymeter scale.
  • A galvanic grey coated meteorite dial on a blue PVD coated base, with a blue ceramic bezel and white enamel tachymeter scale. The 18K gold hour markers and hour-minute hands are blue PVD coated, while the subdial hands appear in 18K white gold.

Each watch is worn on a polished and brushed bracelet with Omega’s patented comfort release adjustment system. The perfect finishing touch for an inspired timepiece, which keeps the Speedmaster in touch with its iconic Moon legacy, on every day, in every hemisphere on Earth.
